NBC News exit polls from Tuesday’s elections showed voters are deeply worried about pocketbook issues and the direction of the country.
Ahead of Tuesday’s elections, Donald Trump assured Americans that prices are coming down, the economy is picking up and the nation is flourishing in ways that make it the world’s envy.
Voters don’t seem to be buying it.
Democrats swept key races, as exit polls depicted an electorate gripped by fears that the U.S. is careening in the wrong direction, far from Trump’s glowing portrait of a nation ascendant.
We do not share his delusion.
its not his view its his lies like all the rest of them. its not about growing the pie its about having he most lopsided distribution in his favor. Preferably with all for him.
Over the weekend, Trump appeared at a “Great Gatsby”-themed party at his Mar-a-Lago resort, an event that produced a viral video of a partially dressed woman dancing in an oversized martini glass. Guests mingled at the oceanside estate — some in Roaring ‘20s attire — at a time when many furloughed federal employees are working without pay.
A senior White House official, speaking on condition of anonymity, dismissed criticism of the party.
“It’s a Halloween party,” the official said. “We aren’t supposed to celebrate Halloween?”
Jesus christ, this impending revolution is writing itself hahaha
“It’s a Halloween party,” the official said. “We aren’t supposed to celebrate Halloween?”
Kind of avoiding the main point of the criticism there.
Better give my billionaire buddies more money.
-Republicans, every time
That’s not a view, it’s a lie.
Im going to go out on a limb and say that if 42 million people are on SNAP, maybe the economy isn’t so great…
Most of the people I talked to about it when I visited my in-laws in Michigan a week ago were saying that they thought people on SNAP were people that couldn’t be bothered to work… So not everyone has gotten the message yet. Tbf their county is definitely a very red one but it still amazed me how sheltered they were from things. I somehow know more about US politics as a Dutchie then they do. They had no idea that most SNAP recipients are people working minimum wage jobs that can’t get by otherwise due to minimum wage being so little.
Hell, they didn’t even know what the no kings protest was about…
Most people don’t understand that Walmart is a huge contributor of this and that most places, especially fast food places, will only allow their employees to work so many hours so they don’t have to give benefits.
I have a friend who is all about Trump. I will continue to try and convince him that there are better people out there. Another friend posted a Tshirt he was going to get him for Christmas. It was a DT shirt, basically making fun of him. My maga friend replied with a commie mamdami shirt. I’m just like is that supposed to be an insult? Do you not want affordable housing and living wage? Do you want to keep working 2 jobs?
I think there are a lot of people out there like him that play into the media. They blame the poor and immigrants instead of the rich. They see far left or a person with any other view as their own as far left and a liberal fascist commie. They are pissed at the previous democratic administration (which I don’t blame them), but if you ask me Biden is just a Republican anyway. Go back 30 or 50 years and he would be a Republican. They want the same things, but see the left “far” left as commies and the previous administrations did nothing to help their situation.
I say all this to say, that yes, people are poorly educated and are shooting themselves in the foot because of what the media has told them to believe. This includes the propaganda found on Facebook, tik too, need sites, and other social media outlets. It’s a frustrating time right now
but if you ask me Biden is just a Republican anyway.
This shit has to fucking stop.
Go back 30 or 50 years and he would be a Republican.
Oh, so he’s a Republican from 5 decades ago? I thought he was a Republican right now.
Years ago I read Hunter Thompson’s book, “Hell’s Angels.” I was a teenager who wanted to read about biker gangs, but there was one passage that stuck with me.
Back when the book was written [circa 1970] an Angel could get a job as a Union stevedore and earn enough in six months to drop out and live on the road for two years. If his girl friend got a part time waitress job she could support them both.
You used to be able to buy a house with a minimum wage job.
A successful professional in 2025 is living as well as his grandfather the garbage man.
That’s 42 million (roughly 10% of the population) on it right now. The percentage of Americans who will use it at some point in their life is closer to 50%.
I would recommend going to your local community forum and read what your dumbass MAGA neighbors are talking about. They’re all buying it despite all of the proof right in front of their faces at the local grocery store and gas station.
Who are you gonna believe, Dear Leader or your own lying eyes?
I went to McDonald’s for the first time in several months the other day. I was craving pickles. I got a spicy McChicken with extra pickles and a mcdouble with extra pickles. It was almost $10. They forgot the pickles.
Isn’t there some kind of protocol for when the president is out of touch with reality?
Gold medal for: hold your breath for the longest under water?
But the billionaires have been making record profits!
I wonder how much longer it will take to the masses to finally understand that all that money the billionaires made was stolen from them in the form of underpaid wages, overpriced products, tax credits, subventions, and externalities.
If I could make one wish to fix things, it would be to eradicate all externalities. Don’t get me wrong, I’m aware this would absolutely suck for a while. Without some kind of matching increase in wages or subsidies, it would ruin a lot of people that I don’t think deserve it. But when you have to pay for the cost of recapturing the CO2 you produce, when you have to pay for the actual cost of producing the plastic you throw away, we would very quickly get better alternatives. Biodegradable packaging would become more common. Alternatives to gas would explode. Interest in walkable areas and public transit would grow. Industries that really need disposable plastics are also rich enough to afford proper disposal, like medicine and electronics. After enough time, we’d just live in a better, cleaner world with less waste and more care put into our distribution networks.
We only have all the bullshit because they’ve been pushing the bill along to the next generation and the next and the next, and we are seeing the bill come due.
His “bright view of the economy” is entirely based upon what he’s been able to personally pocket through his multitude of grifts. He doesn’t GAF about anybody or anything else.
Thank you. While fixing our system to reduce wealth inequality is a huge deal for our future, I’m much more concerned with dump and cronies fleecing our system through grift, flouting the law, monetizing government function
Good luck with that. The military alone accounts for a rather large chunk of our spend, and I can all but guarantee there’s a metric ton of waste there.
That’s the same problem Biden and the majority of politicians have. The “magnificent 7” are driving the markets up, while the rest are not doing so well. The economy is being fueled by AI hype right now.
So more of the same? The economy hasn’t been good in YEARS, this didn’t just start
The post-covid economic recovery was relatively strong under Biden. Biden had double the job growth Trump did in his first turn. What metrics are you using to back that claim?
You know what did just start? Trump’s ruinous economic policies, the ones you’re currently excusing.
lolwut? The economy under Biden was terrible. Yes, it’s gotten worse under Trump, but pretending that Biden was doing a good job is just putting your head in the sand.
What metrics are you using to back that claim?
Generatl inflation, Housing, Medical costs, Education costs
You heard a critique of the economy under Biden, which was shit, and assumed it was excusing Trump? Despite them telling us everyday that we are not struggling and everything is good we knew it wasn’t. Good economies don’t have 2 record back to back levels of homelessness, people living paycheck to paycheck skyrocketed, Biden tried to take credit for those returning to work after closedowns as job recovery. Liberals only see that it’s shit now because it’s not their team doing it
