If you have any control over your retirement funds though, you can use that control to get out of the stock market if you want. So it isn’t anyone with a retirement fund, just nearly anyone with a retirement fund.

Finally, after those investors decide it’s been a good run, they cash out and the bubble truly starts bursting.

This time they wasted so much money that they’re trying to foist the bad investments on retail investors with overblown valuations and IPOs before cashing out.

I think the big question is whether or not the “frontier” models continue to be available and evolve, because the business model for running them seems very unsound.

I kinda hope the AI bubble busts, and that afterwards some of the efforts turn toward making open source models more performant and powerful.

I think in five years — if the tools manage to stick around — finding coders that can work without AI assistance will be like finding skilled assembler developers.

Nope dude, I actually know how to type em dashes. It isn’t very difficult on lemmy (which is markdown formatted). It’s done by three regular dashes in a row: —. But I can do it on Macbook (opt+shift+dash) as well as on Linux (u+2014). I like em dashes and the bots can take them from my cold, dead hands. In this case, I used the markdown formatting because I was replying on my phone.

Yeah this kinda fits into “CEO said a thing” journalism. Even if he’s correct — and intuitively it seems like he might be — people should ask for evidence. But our corporate press is useless and/or complicit and almost never asks a follow-up question.
