For a bunch of supposed alphas, these Republicans sure do seem like a bunch of pussies.

“We’re going to stop watering down American history. We’re going to teach the truth. Our nation was founded as a Christian nation, and Texas is a Christian state,” said Hall, a Republican who is a pastor in Springtown. He said the Bible has had a “remarkable impact on our culture, our societies and our laws.”
No, you fucking brainstem, this nation was not founded as a xtian nation.
And no, “the” bible did not have much impact on our laws. Find one mention of it in the Constitution.
And then look at the First Amendment vs. the so-called “first commandment”. They are in direct conflict with one another. In this free country, I’m well within my rights to worship any god I want, or no god at all.
Your rules are for YOU and those in your book club. They don’t apply to everyone. No one, least of all minorities in a captive audience, should be obligated to have to listen to your blatantly stupid and wrong bullshit.

he is perhaps concerned with billionaires fleeing the state and that a national approach could prevent that
Not sure about his motivations, but we absolutely cannot be playing states off of one another to see who can bend over the hardest for the Epstein Class.
Fuck that noise.

Jesus fucking christ, talk about a throwback. Now they are doing 1950’s style Red Scare bullshit?

“JD” “Vance” is trying to bring back Nixon, too. The conservatives are nothing if not big fans of the goldie oldies.

AFAICT, it’s the xtians that are closing down churches, due to lack of interest.
The nones are ~30%. Adherents to xtianity are way down. It’s simple numbers not really any Grand Liberal Conspiracy, FFS.

It’s because Donvict is a weak little baby and just like so many conservatives, the election of Obama completely broke him.

Modern?
Remember: Nixon’s approval numbers were still non-zero when he resigned in disgrace.
This position on Nixon and Watergate is not new or modern or something that started in Vance’s “generation” or anything of the sort.
This is who and what the conservatives are and always have been. They don’t think the rules should apply to them. They just want power and to enact their nefarious agenda.

It’s probably in the same location as Donvict’s tax returns and his magnificent health care plan.

Why not both? Sure, they are going to make money, but many of them want to do that while pushing the Seven Mountain Mandate insanity onto an underage captive audience.
They want xtian nationalist madrasas.
I’m quite sure there is an element of grifting in there somewhere, but I would not underestimate the zealotry we are dealing with here.

They’ve been doing this kind of thing for decades and getting away with it, AFAIK.
This was written back in 2012…

I’m not sure if it’s still the case, but IIRC, it used to be the case that Texas choices related to textbooks had an outsized influence on the rest of the country. Which would be fine if they were progressive, but because they tend to be regressive instead, it’s exactly what we don’t need…
(had to look it up, since I was curious if my memory was accurate…)

With these kinds of nefarious anti-intellectual schemes from xtian zealots going on for decades, it’s no wonder so many American adults still don’t understand biology 101 and reject evolution, LOL.

Sorry; I don’t believe anything that has been corrupted by this skidmark of a “president”.

Another instance of conservatives punching America right in the balls.
Also, saw this headline: “Justices Clash on Whether Race Played a Role in Trump’s Bid to Deport Haitians”
🤔 🤣

Yup. Ronnie Raygun had the most criminal administration in history - at least up until Donvict’s anyway - by objective measures.
And then topped all of that criminality with Iran/Contra.
Also, I have no idea how the October Surprise theory was ever considered “absurd” by serious adults: https://jacobin.com/2023/03/ronald-reagan-jimmy-carter-1980-election-october-surprise-iran-hostage-conspiracy-theory
And I’m sure their schemes did something to blunt what was arguably much, much worse than Watergate. Another part might simply be that boomers had less fire in their bellies at that point and were flipping over to yuppiedom.
Most narratives today only mention Watergate, and forget about Iran/Contra. I would not be surprised if most of Gen Y and younger are not even aware of Iran/Contra, which is a shockingly brazen crime.

LOL, he’s telling on himself and the cons.
The Faux News scheme and unleashing hate radio were both done to try to prevent any future consequences for Republican crimes like Watergate. Of course, the Internet further fragmented things.
Of course, the “legacy media” corporate media was already far too right wing anyway, but the zone got flooded with radically far right wing propaganda masquerading as news.
Surely “JD” “Vance” knows this.

Ruh-roh!
I thought with all of Donvict’s stupid vanity projects and losing to Iran, we were just supposed to forget all about the pedo-protection program that Donvict’s DOJ is running?
Whoops?

Priorities.

Ew, gross. Why is the DOJ trying to get this?
What creepy weirdoes.
Meanwhile, they do nothing about the Trump-Epstein files?
Ah, that’s a great book. I’ve been telling people to read that for years and years.
Anyway, I would not be surprised to learn that many right wing politicians against not only themselves, but their families. And I’m sure that’s coming from inside the party.
