No, capital has the means to enact the legal system. If, for arguments sake, we had perfect legal systems where legal representation was free, everyone would be protected equally.
To be clear, I’m not proposing any particular solution, just being nitpicky in that “that’s how any legal system protects anything” isn’t correct - there clearly are possible systems that aren’t imbalanced.
I mean… I’ve never even heard of legal systems that allow you to protect yourself without forking over a shitload of cash, and I’ve been fucked over by corporations in NZ, UK, GE and FR. Every time I tried to follow the free legal help I was met with “no-one is going to help you with this for free” or “it’d cost you 20k to pursue this and you’ll only win 20k at most, so it’s not worth pursuing” despite the law clearly being on my side.
Not saying there aren’t things you CAN get help with in these countries, nor saying that other countries don’t help poor people in this way. Just my experience.
