Virtually any form of government can incorporate things like public transportation, state-run utilities, and stronger protections for unions. None of those things, by themselves, make a system socialist.

What you’re describing are social welfare programs. The word “social” is one of those confusing and often misused words in the English language. Different terms can sound almost identical while referring to fundamentally different concepts. Social welfare is not socialism, even though the two terms sound similar.
Thanks yes this seems to be a mistake, reading more into history I’ve even found that the push for better working conditions has come from elected social democrats and political union parties (1906 in the Netherlands) long before the Russian revolution.

I believe neither of them are part of the DNC. They do caucus with the Democrats because the other option is the Republicans.
You may be correct. They both have always thrown their hats and with the Democrats now as far as I can tell anyway.
