Indeed. And that’s why religion shouldn’t be in power at all. Its focus on transcendent truths makes it dangerous in government, but as a counterbalance to authority it is effective and beneficial.

When Christianity becomes a tool of power rather than a challenge to it, it doesn’t just damage the church. It destabilizes democracy. We are watching that happen in real time.

I’m not American, but I am a Christian, and I believe that wholeheartedly. Religions, including my own, should never hold political power. However religion can and should serve as a reminder that temporal authority is subject to something higher, thereby tempering and relativizing secular power, which is always tempted to absolutize itself.

They don’t care about the cause. They’re here for the engagement.

I did something like that, but as I’m a Linux n00b (even if I was a Linux-only user for something like 5 years now) it’s far simpler than that. I don’t use a multiplexer, I simply use more than one TTY, and emacs’ buffers. But I may install kmscon!

Yeah we like to think that because it permits to say that the problem lies with others, while the whole society is touched by this problem. Most people on the Epstein list aren’t religious or conservative, and in my very secular and quite progressive country, France, we still have a lot of pedophiles. Last scandal was in public schools of Paris, and it’s not a haven for conservatives or religious people, quite the opposite.

Manjaro is the distro that made me ditch Windows completely. I even bought a Tuxedo Laptop with Manjaro preinstalled a few years ago, and I almost never had any problem (this laptop is still my main device, and I never reinstalled the OS). I love this distro, but if the financial situation is bad enough for them to fire the only full-time developer, it’s time to change things. If the community hard forks, I may follow. Or begin to distrohop.
