i’ve found one that’s called “italian design pumba” and its “intelligent obstacle evasion” is just bumper sensors. there don’t appear to be any cameras, infrared, lidar, phone apps, etc., which is exactly what i’m looking for!

you might have some luck looking for older brands/models along those lines from second-hand shops and refurbished resellers. they’re way cheaper too, as a nice bonus

While the opt-out of sale request should last indefinitely, California’s privacy law still allows companies to collect information without asking for permission first in most cases. That means data brokers are likely to continue to collect information for profiles of you—but they will will have less data and be limited in how they use it after an opt-out request. New data brokers may also register with the state after you file your request. And DROP won’t stop companies who aren’t registered data brokers, like Google, from collecting and sharing your personal information.

here’s hoping that it’s a “foot in the door” sort of starting point that will be expanded to this data not being collected en masse in the first place 🤞

i have a separate phone and email just for applying for jobs, and that’s p much the only way i know how to deal with the spam, since it’s at least diverted away from my real contact details.

but unfortch, i can’t exactly give out my CV with my name and employers redacted, as much as i’d like to, hah!

good! hopefully this will discourage everyone who bought them from using them, so they just sit in a drawer somewhere or get recycled instead of spying on unwitting people, and meta will fail to make back the huge amounts of money they’ve invested in tech that most people don’t want 😌

not our queer elders in the baby boomer and silent generation who went through the aids crisis & saw so many governments intentionally do nothing to help them.

not the baby boomers and silent generation who were in the black panther party, the white panther party, and who were building the rainbow coalition & who got targeted because of it.

not the baby boomers who’ve been sent to prison in the US for contrived reasons, to intentionally rob them of their voting rights.

the worst people have been intentionally robbing good people of votes, or having them killed off. it’s just more visible in that generation because of the size of that generation, due to the post-ww2 baby boom they were named for.

centi-billionaires are hoarding most of the us’s wealth, not boomers in general. fortune.con has a clear vested interest in keeping people fighting each other instead of fighting together.

i think “no war but class war” is an oversimplification most of the time, but when it comes to wealth hoarding, let’s focus on the centibillionaires who are hoarding literally hundreds of thousands of millions of dollars first.

i can use the searchbar on jellyfin & if it’s not already there, i can request it using jellyseer within that same search bar, so it’s possible to integrate the two somehow.

i’m afraid i’m not sure of the specifics though, i’m only using a friend’s jellyfin 🫣

the fact that following up about hallucinated references was met with a second list of hallucinated references is just insulting, imo.

surely needing to go through everything with a fine-toothed comb to make sure that a) a source hasn’t been hallucinated and that b) cited sources actually say what is claimed, is more time-consuming than just doing the research & citations manually?

oh absolutely! it’s vital research & the article seems well-written but still accessible to a lay-person like me.

my only issue was with the editor or whomever wrote the misleading headline (i was expecting to read about a human father), not the article itself & certainly not the researchers.

idk, i’m vegan and i think it’d be perfectly ethical to eat centi-billionaires 🤷

for myself, if i can recover passwords etc, i delete the account to lower the possibility of that data being used to train ai, and to lower the numbers of registered accounts they have.

i think stakeholders are more likely to see accounts being deleted as worse than an inactive account, because people can always come back to an inactive account.

so many websites are eager to keep users by making it difficult to delete accounts, or by adding a 14 day wait before they’ll delete an account, etc., so that alone makes me think they want even inactive accounts for usage statistics or to steal data from.
