I love Alice in Wonderland and there is this rather obscure claymation version that was done by Czech director and artist Jan Švankmajer called Alice. Its very creepy and off putting, but also a surreal masterpiece, with things like animated animal skulls and other animated taxidermy. Its one of my all time favorite movies, but I’ve talked to other people who have watched it and for the most part people seem to dislike it.
You can watch it in full here and come to your own conclusion https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tK_l74cSPGY

LOVED M.Y.T.H. series. One of my favorite reads of all time. Check out Phule’s Company series by him as well if you have not read it yet, just as page turning and entertaining.

I had cancer 3 years ago. I will be paying off my treatment costs for the next 10 years, like I will be fully in remission for over 5 years from cancer and still paying off my treatment. So maybe that is why.

I am sure I will be down voted on Lemmy for this but using AI for development by a team who is already experienced in development of the product they are working on is not a moral failing.

Thank you friend for that tip, I am going to look in to this.

A no soliciting sign doesn’t stop solicitors, so I don’t see why a welcome mat should have any more power.

Here is my take - They are adding a new metric called “Engaged Views”, this is the same metric that a “View” was previously, something like - the person stayed after 30 seconds so they are “engaged”. Then they are going to sell ads based on the now inflated view number and use the “Engaged view” metric against creators so they can cut the amount they are paying for monetization.

I can still see it while not logged in but I assume it is only a matter of time. https://old.lemmy.world/ ftw

I have accounts on several instances, so I just block all the same things for each.

I did a couple things to make my life comfy here.
I changed my default sort to be “new comments” - this gave me the biggest perspective change on Lemmy, I now see where the active conversations are and it makes the place feel more full of people and less pages and pages of empty threads. I also found a lot less political stuff this way, because it gets posted a lot but people only interact with just a few of the political posts, so only those one end up floating to the top. I am finding myself getting less politics this way on Lemmy than I was on reddit. Also has the added bonus of highlighting where the active communities are.
I blocked Lemmy.ml and hexbear. A lot of the wilder leftist stuff comes from them and once it was blocked I saw the amount of politics in my feed drop right away.

This 100%. Everything you write on any of these chats, anything you write in email, anything you exchange digitally can be monitored if it is not end to end encrypted. People are way too ignorant about it. Just because you can’t search your chat history up on Google doesn’t mean you aren’t being tracked, recorded and monitored.

I am 1000% sure if this was a Muslim preaching they would find a way to stop it.
When I was 8 years old, I made some tea and it was too hot so I put a cube of ice in it to cool it off enough to drink. My mom saw this and GASPED, then told me if my great grandmother had seen that she would have rolled over in her grave.
So, since then, in order not to shame my ancestors, I trained myself to drink very hot tea.
