The only ones who get arrested are those who commit egregious offences that the public are aware of and leadership cannot swipe under the rug. And then the “Investigation” shows that there were already multiple reports of previous wrong doing and that their bosses and other cops already knew.

I grew up in mexico where corruption is endemic. One day, my mom was complaining about corruption pointing fingers. I told her that I left mexico because it’s impossible to live there without being corrupt. That, if you give money to a corrupt police officer or any other bureaucrat you are corrupt, and most of the time it’s not even a choice. If you didn’t report wrong doing because “nothing will be done” you are corrupt.

So, It’s my observation that ACAB.

For those unfortunate enough to live in a country which doesn’t generally teach economic policy.

Economic systems are tangencial to political systems.

You can have left wing democracies or dictatorships. Same with right win. It can be a democracy or a dictatorship or anything in between.

Femicide doesn’t get solved with more laws. It’s a deep rooted issue which needs education. Proper support for abused people, really investigating and enforcing laws. Providing mental health support.

It’s not like the people who are killing women right now are too worried about the existing laws. They do it out of hate and cowardice. Cultural expectations, mental health issues. And just because “they can”.

But really. Support for women before they are killed. In many cases, the signs show way before and the abusers are let go with just a warning.
