The thing that annoys me more is that the article and the headline have been updated now to say that the talks were called off because of Israeli strikes on Hezbollah.
I was curious not so much about what Trump said, but whether it actually affected negotiations.
I was sort of in the same headspace as you. I graduated high school at 17, and some of my friends married their high school sweethearts that June. I dated a senior as a freshman, so if we had gotten serious, I could have been ready to get married at 17.
But all of the points you bring up are valid reasons to make a younger graduate wait a few extra months to get married.
Not to mention that getting married right out of high school hasn’t been a widely successful life choice for a few generations now. It mostly worked up until my parents’ generation, but that was probably more to do with cultural expectations and legal barriers to divorce. None of my late GenX friends who did it stayed with their spouses for more than a few years.
Okay, I can see that. I was parsing the sentence differently.

At one point, the spokesperson is quoted as saying, “The nanobubbler technology has successfully destroyed the algae bloom that has plagued every pool reopening since 1922 …”
But then they call it “advanced nanobubbler technology.”
Is it more than a century old, or is it advanced? Pick one.
I truly believe that if the framers of the constitution had any idea that they were basically writing a religious document, they would have built in the requirement for a constitutional convention every 25-ish years.
I think they would be horrified by the idea that we had only passed 27 amendments in 237 years.
There is, but the people who wrote it didn’t foresee a world in which an entire established political party just blindly follows everything that the incapacitated person says.
The framers of the constitution and the people who wrote its amendments were so sure that only people with integrity and good intentions would hold elected office that they didn’t give us a plan for removing shallow, greedy megalomaniacs.
I think that the current Republicans in power would be okay with poor white women having babies. They just don’t want the government to fund anything except (1) wars in countries with natural resources that they can exploit and (2) private corporations in which they own stakes.

I think the price point is where your theory falls apart. The AI companies are spending far more than Netflix and they will need to charge more than the average family can afford in order to turn a profit. (Especially in the US where people are struggling to pay for gas and groceries right now.)
Take a look at the new token-based business services. People are blowing through their monthly allotment in a couple of days doing the same things they had been doing previously. Businesses won’t be able to afford increasing their AI spending by 10x to keep up.

I wonder if that level of unmitigated narcissistic rage can precipitate a stroke in a person of advanced age who hasn’t made maintaining his health a priority.

I know that for contemporary Republican politicians, every accusation against their perceived enemies is an admission of something they’re doing.

I hope that every moderate politician across the state loudly proclaims this is obvious evidence that the GOP’s core value is not protecting life but punishing “promiscuous” women who dare to have sex for any reason other than procreation.
This is the same party that is lamenting the country’s birth rate, by the way. They aren’t even pretending to care about women any more.

As someone who emigrated from the US to a more reasonable country, I really hate having to remember the time of year to calculate the time difference when I need to contact people in the US.
Even though permanent DST makes more sense, I’d take either.
Those are all literally the current standard postal abbreviations, just not in all caps.
I left the US five years ago and now I live in a country where the coins still have that problem (some are different sizes even when they have the same value!), but at least the bills are sized by denomination.
US bills must be a nightmare for people who have impaired vision.
