Hoping they get a nice dismissal and a smack down reminder that state agencies are NOT federal agencies by definition, and are free to direct their resources in any way the state government deems best.

Additionally… no one currently knows specifically what’s going on with him, he’s been MIA for three weeks now.

His spokespeople keep saying that he’s recovering from a medical incident but no one knows which hospital or in general where he is.

I’ve seen some conspiracy theories that he’s actually dead and they’re hiding it to prevent Kentucky’s Democratic governor from sending a Democrat to Washington to replace him, but that doesn’t even make sense, as Kentucky is one of the few states where the governor doesn’t appoint remainder-of-term Congressional replacements… it’d be a special election instead.

The whole thing is super-weird.

Yet another reason I’m against capital punishment.

They know via physical evidence exonerations that not all convicted murderers are actually guilty. And a dead person can only be exonerated posthumously.

Or, you could just… not execute him. It’s letting him off easy.

He’ll still be as dead at the end of a life sentence than he will be at the end of an execution, but with the latter, you let him skip decades of excruciatingly crappy prison life.

The move isn’t to reject the fandom.

The move is to build the instance with explicit values — pro-trans, pro-queer, progressive moderation, zero tolerance for bigotry.

This feels like building a forum to discuss Mein Kamph, and then saying it’s going to moderated with a focus on inclusion, human rights, and diversity.

With the whole HP thing, there are IMO far too many people fully separating the art and the artist. I just can’t morally do that.

I think most people don’t understand how insanely, mind-mindbogglingly large 52! is.

Kind of figured, it has too many in-focus points at varying distance from the “camera.” So it still has some uncanny valley in it.

Remember that scene in The Shawshank Redemption where it establishes that the corrupt warden was ruining local businesses because he had no labor overhead costs when deploying prisoners all over town to do project work? And then the local businesses started bribing him to stay away from their livelihoods so that they wouldn’t go bankrupt?

Same as modern times: except, it’s 10,000 times larger in scale now, and the smaller businesses can no longer afford the bribes. But that’s okay, because the government stepped in to pay instead.

The IPA is fantastically interesting.

I don’t agree with people who think it should replace our standard alphabets and syllabarries (it is jarring, at least in my opinion, to essentially read other people’s accents from written text when they don’t match your own), but it can be pretty useful in some situations… where you’re actually studying accents, or the most common ways things are said in other languages.
