many sites do this for cookies, no one cares about GDPR. hell, The sun is literally based in the UK and while they aren’t in the EU now they still have a GDPR implementation, yet they’ve been doing this for years.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Several vulnerabilities discovered in the Linux kernel
24·9 days agoYeah, it’s funny when people shit on Linux just because people care enough to disclose vulnerabilities. Trust me that any proprietary system has just as many; they just get silently patched in this month’s security update.
Computers are finicky things; the amount of known CVEs is simply a measure of how many people pentest the software and how big the project is, rather than any statement about its security.

4·9 days agokilling copyright would also kill the licenses. If you want to say that copyleft licenses should be the default rather than ARR, i can go along with that, but would probably be hard to enforce in any meaningful way.

It is some effort to set up, and VPS seems generally more expensive than a commercial VPN which has more nodes and other extra things. You’re moving your location which is cool, but multiple people use VPN nodes which serves as a mask because you can’t differentiate what traffic belongs to which user; You’re also still trusting whoever you rent your VPS from that they haven’t set up some sort of monitoring on a higher level before tailscale running on the machine can encrypt traffic.
