Same. Its somewhat useful on some very small scripting or tasks…but its mostly just to try out a new model or two. Its not really useful for anything big.

I will have to say…even my tiny models are about as good as Chatgpt/Claude/etc… which makes me think about how much people are spending on tokens regularly. I was able to get the same kind of python script started with my local tiny model that was comparable to the newest Claude code offerings.

  • If self driving cars actually take off in mass, I personally think we may see more and more of these occurring. Not how they are now, but in the way busses currently work, no driver required.

If it doesn’t require any sort of work to drive, people would just set up their car with their entertainment and 1 hr+ drives become a LOT less tedious. And then these cities that don’t really have a lot going for them other than being sorta close to a bigger city will slowly depopulate. If you can get to a better city with more services why not? Anyways that my theory.

I also think as the older crowd make room for the youngins, we will begin to see much less population (or at least a huge slowdown in human beings made). The baby boom bulge is getting into retirement and theres going to be a LOT of houses popping up. More inventory means prices go down. Climate change may change that equation as things get drier/hotter in most of the US so im less sure about that. But less people being made means less housing needs to strain generally.

  • True you have to be smart.

Its generally ok and accepted. Where it gets tricky is when you pull ALL the source code of company XYZ product and then use it at a new job to undercut your old one. Or try to sell a copy with the same code. Essentially when money and licensing comes into play.

Also depending on where you coded said solution, if it holds up to court, etc…etc… But generally, if LLMs can siphon up the entire internet for code, you can keep your own.

But one off scripts? Oh yeah those are safe. People have been sharing their dot files for ages.

I personally have spun off a couple of libraries making it easier for people to use said commercial product. Its been wildly successful for my career over the long run.
