I’m hosting fluxer and matrix, but fluxer is fantastic. One consideration, for some reason the documentation doesn’t tell you that you need to go to the admin page, create a voice region, and a voice server, to actually use the voice chat that’s part of the guide.
If you want a mature ecosystem, try out matrix, although it is much harder to figure out how to host it.
If you want something that’s intended to be a perfect discord replacement, go with fluxer, they did an amazing job with the self hosting guide.

Hell yeah! I’m excited for some neat art!

I’m running my server on my own hardware, so all of my sevices will be fine

Thanks, that’s basically what I gathered from the article but I didn’t do any further research.

Uggghhh. Thankfully, I’ve never even heard of this program, but this sets a poor precedent for their future endeavors

Doesn’t this only happen if there’s a power surge? I feel like I heard that somewhere but have nothing to back up my claim. In that case just put it on a surge protector and it shouldn’t be bad?

I’m using librewolf on fedora, I had to make sure to allow WebGL for the site

Ohhh cool! Is this like Reddits r/place?

Ohhhhh that sounds very interesting! I might just have to set one up for my server!

Forgive my negligence, but what is a BBS?

Same, I use vscodium, which kept asking for my git username/password every time I wanted to push, which was frustrating, so I just switched to using cli like a good Linux enthusiast

Obligatory mention: if you can, try and switch away from GitHub! I highly recommend codeberg, which is based on the self-host able software, Forgejo.

Note that the list of things Hasan said is fake, make sure to read past it where it explicitly says so

Yeah, I certainly don’t wanna just blindly promote china, they do a lot of things I find abhorrent, but it can’t be denied that they are so much better than the US in a number of areas.

I don’t think they ever removed it. It’s just… there’s hardly anything there. For example, if you go to the port forwarding page, it says you have to use their app.

Actually, it’s not acan, you have to. They removed almost everything from the modems admin page. Even then though, the issue is that my server is connected over MoCA, which doesn’t show up on their port forwarding thing, it has to be directly connected via Ethernet to port forward to it. So I had to physically move the server to the modem, plug it in, and add my port forwards

Ohhh trust me, I know, I still live with my parents and they have no understanding of how vile corporations can be. They simply don’t want to use anything other than the ISP bullshit because they think it’ll be worse, and that the higher price means higher quality. :/

Huh, that is indeed very strange. Did you update the kernel soonish before this happened? If so, I’ve had issues with the nvidia drivers doing dumb shit when the kernel updates. You can try rolling back to latest kernel in the grub menu, but if that doesn’t work or isn’t there, try running sudo akmods --force and then reboot, or you can even uninstall the nvidia drivers temporarily to see if that helps.
They were a part of our history, but all good things must come to an end. I’m glad they’re in a better mental state now.
