World News@lemmy.world•At least 40 people drown in France as 43C heatwave sweeps across countryEnglish
912·2 days agoAh was reading the body of the post, which says “around 40C.” 109 sucks but it’s still bearable if it’s not humid. Humidity with that temp is what makes it a killer.

1040·2 days ago40C is 104F, which on its own doesn’t feel that hot to me. It must be humid too I’m guessing.

81·2 days agoJust think of all the predatory letters sent to ISPs because some kid downloaded the Avengers movie off a piracy website. And at the same time companies like Google have the balls to sell access to models that stole…literally everything in digital existence.

41·5 days agoOne thing I haven’t understood with BD is why they haven’t thrown tremendous amounts of computing horsepower behind ONE humanoid robot to make it almost human, just to show it’s possible, then to slowly eat away at the costs. Just like has been done with AI and datacenters. BD robots are cool but clearly not at all intelligent so they’ve been stuck in this zombie state for decades now.
I think the newer robots companies actually might try to have humanoid robots powered by massive AI datacenters and make them “intelligent.” That’s the approach at least.

3·7 days agoHonestly, this is a really cool result. Since it’s a prototype I’m sure it’s wildly expensive right now, but eventually it’ll come down in cost that you can buy sensors like this for cheap. Rather than throwing stuff away once it’s past the expiration date, you now would wait for a positive sensor hit instead. Would really reduce food waste which is a huge problem.
