Sadly strategic poverty only works against those who want to make you buy something. It does very little (and in fact may make things worse) against actors who want to know if they should target you for not being white/straight/wealthy, etc.
Lots of good suggestions here, I’ll also thrown in that a basic standalone automation can help prevent the worst also:

Edit: use not closed instead of open to prevent brief unavailable states from messing with it.

Once you configure nano with a ~/.nanorc file, it becomes a lot more like micro/helix without having to install anything on new systems. I just curl my config and I’m good. I have Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V, 2 space tabs, mouse scrolling +selection, syntax highlighting, etc. There’s a lot you can do in there, and that’s not to mention plugins.
Cloudflare tunnels is more than just a reverse proxy, but agreed. That might be the better option regardless. If you’re Cloudflare-averse, you can use Tailscale funnels, or spin up your own rproxy+tunnel solution (there are plenty out there, such as Rathole, Zrok, or frp).
