It’s so far past time we need to be looking at a 24 hour work week. It’s perfect for multiple reasons. It’s one day. It can be met multiple ways: two 12 hour shifts, three 8 hour shifts, or four 6 hour shifts. It reduces the work week to less than half of the week, so parents can juggle without paying childcare. And the most important reason: we’ll all get the same amount of work done. Corporations or businesses can just swap employees out to get a full week.

Publicly traded corporations do not have empathy. They have no loyalty to the employees, only to the shareholders and to profit. Why is this surprising to anybody? It’s not about Meta or AI, this has been happening for decades in tech and outside of tech. Mass layoffs are a part of capitalism in the USA.

Emby is jellyfin with extra support and development. The apps came out earlier and for more platforms. It supports IPTV. Theres some pretty responsive forum support. Jellyfin may have these things too, but I chose Emby at the time for its native WebOS app.

Joking aside, I do have a lifetime subscription to Emby, which shares a lot of the same code as Jellyfin. But the lifetime subscription was $99 which I viewed as a thank you donation to the developer(s). In the past 5 years or so it has been an excellent value.

Potatoes naturally were toxic nightshade (all parts). To be domesticated they had to be eaten with clay, which absorbs the toxin. There are still some varieties eaten with clay.

The bluish haze you see as trees fade away toward the horizon is from compounds they release that act as nuclei for rain drops - yes forests do their own cloud seeding. They already made it - called the Apple TV. They should make a $200-$400 mini PC with no fans. You can choose tvOS or macOS, and either way it makes an awesome gaming console with 4 forward usb-c ports. They’ve done alright with mobile gaming and they could really make a dent in the console market if they tried. Aside from that it would be a great home server or even a desktop PC.

In early engineering storm water was a problem that you want to drain as quickly as possible - so the solution was to pave everything including the creeks. Through many urban floods it has been recognized that infiltration into soil is the best solution for pollutants, flooding, and groundwater recharge. But we still have millions of acres of hardscape that needs to be re-designed to soak into the ground and only overflow if necessary.

But that said a lot of cocaine could enter natural waters directly by being illegally trafficked in boats, drones, or planes that crash. The real problem here is the war on drugs - cocaine was once available at every corner drug store. No illegal trafficking, no pollution.

We will all be severely restricted on what we can eat and how we can travel. Everything you buy will be disposable garbage that makes you sick and needs replacement often.

I host video streaming for personal use and gigabit doesn’t even flinch.

The only use for such speeds in the home is offloading all your data and computing to cloud services. Yay? Symmetrical gigabit is already about 5 times faster than I would ever need. Most people are too lazy to even run a LAN cable to get better than 150-300 mbps.
