If the justices are just basing their decisions on their political ideologies instead of by the US constitution, doesn’t that make them mere slimy politicians instead of wise judges?

An official website of the United States government
God damn US Government, you now have the same credibility as those Nigerian princes sending emails to me.

This take - well it suddenly explains A LOT.

That word has officially lost all meaning. To the AIPAC, that sweet old lady driving the speed limit? She’s an antisemite. Were they served a bagel that was slightly oval? The waiter is antisemitic. That bagel? You guessed it - an antisemite too.

Something’s missing. Setting aside the 1 person who was violent. A jury of their peers convicted of others for what amounts to minor vandalism, and the sentence was decades in prison? Has the system completely failed citizens standing up for what’s right?

Didn’t trump make himself the director of the Kennedy center board (by some strange magic that makes no sense to me). So I assume he’s directing the lawyers and not scheduling any shows that might bring attention to the fact that his name was removed and the usual K-Center artists still refuse to perform there because of him? If he can’t have his way is he ruining it for everyone? Maybe I’m wrong on a couple of points there.

I’ve been struggling with this shift too. Tech used to game changing ideas for people, now it’s sole purpose is a vehicle for corporate profits. Tech used to be an exciting Wild West of crazy new ideas and new ways to be creative or play or communicate and share with friends or do less work. Now consumer focused tech is just minor evolutions of current tech launched with billion dollar marketing campaigns, corporate traps to lock you into app addictions or various subscriptions to see stock price increase 0.1%. And I don’t see any light at the end of the tunnel.

Hoping the same thing. But at the moment it seems sloppy and amateurish

Whoa! They look like a very long line of obviously bad decisions. Unwearable. Not even ironically ugly. Like a CEO designed it himself surrounded by a vacuum of yes men.

If future historians ask why the world lost confidence in the USA, it’s this

I’m guessing it is the same elderly white men who are also calling for younger people to be having babies that voted this down.

American families are struggling, the millennial generation may never get to participate in the American dream, and THIS is what their President feels needs his attention?

Agree on the lost it’s meaning.

So… that’s 1500 dollars per American household.

There was a time when journalism would shine here. But the NYT is now a rotting husk. I wouldn’t trust them to report on yesterdays weather in Central Park for fear it would be from Jerusalem instead.

Oh WaPo, what happened to thee?

I’m going to be very little help here, I’ve spent a short amount of time working on tangential research, but I don’t think your are going to get answers that will be satisfying, because the molecular/emotional aspects of addiction are INSANELY complicated. Hoping someone can step in with an elegant digestible set of answers for us.

So FBI spent HOW much money to prevent potential acts of minor vandalism? It’s U of M, the sororities inadvertently cause more property damage than these arrested kiddos even had planned.

I very much agree. A more just solution would see settlements from cases such as this should come from the police unions funds, or as you suggested - not from taxpayers.
I feel like I’m taking crazy pills. How corrupt is the system? Do the Oceansgate engineers now work for the Fed?
