As always in life it’s a little column a and b. I think what they’re trying to get at is that this doesn’t save any economic productivity in the long run and runs counter to the traditional “principles” of capitalism.

Disagreement is built into the scientific method. I’m always open to shifting my opinion should the data change, but currently the overwhelming data is showing vaccines, including the Covid 19 vaccine, to be safe and effective on a grand scale when it comes to positive health outcomes for a population vs the control group. Edward Jenner faced the same uphill challenges explaining it to people hundreds of years ago when he created the first vaccine though so I suppose it makes sense the debate is still around. Personally I think that science should invite skeptism at large scale but I just don’t think there’s any place for fighting against expert opinion and agreement when the vast majority of data provides proof for it. I understand the choice in vaccination and vaccination opinion often feels like a very personal one and It’s odd, because I think a lot of people would probably tell you vaccines are only good so perhaps you feel lied to there… And truth be told, they kill people occasionally. I hate saying that’s an unfortunate reality of life, but the more unfortunate reality is that greater numbers would die or experience potentially extreme health complications without them based on all evidence we have gathered to this point and historically. In an ideal world we’d be past this point and it would be a perfect or entirely unnecessary technology, but we must make due with what we have in the face of things we cannot at this point reasonably control such as viruses.

It’s a lot easier of a choice now that it’s endemic and there are drugs, but long term complications are still common with Covid so it’s more of a gamble than the vaccine. You’re also not reading it correctly but I don’t really care to explain risk factors to you.

There’s enough time passed to show that if you catch the virus you have a significantly increased risk of all long term complications vs the vaccine. Again just look up the statistics and research. The primary field I’m aware of is heart complications where those who have taken the vaccine show double digit reductions in long term heart complications vs those who have not. Arstechnica.com has a good write up on it that I have linked below, but basically every legitimate peer reviewed study is fairly aligned on the health outcomes of the vaccine being positive stacked against the virus in wide populations. You, as an individual, do not get to choose if you live in a population so your personal assessed risk factor does not really matter because it’s entirely subjective and based on things you cannot measure.

The issue is you’re comparing a small manageable risk to a significant unmanageable one. The data is in. The time has passed. You had the potential to be somewhat correct once, but with millions of doses of the vaccine now distributed we now have overwhelming evidence that it leads to more positive health outcomes vs contracting the virus. A short search of academic studies will provide you significant data in this regard should you wish you validate.

I don’t know if it’s on the icon, I believe you have to use the cli “tailscale status” to view your tailnet nodes connection types

Is it possible you misconfigured your tailnet and instead of using a direct connection to your local subnet router you were using an ethereal port via a DERP relay? You can read into it more on tailscales documentation, but essentially you need to leave UPD inbound port 41641 open to your subnet router inbound from WAN.

Tailscale, headscale, or something along those lines may help optimize the route but as others have said to resolve this is an actual fashion you’d need a cdn which requires significant geo-redundant hardware which comes at a pretty significant cost. That being said I think your friend has a good shot if you implement the former.

Definitely not anti space sentiment, to clarify. I love the space program and funding it fully with public dollars has historically led to massive returns in scientific discoveries we use daily. Memory foam, aerogels, paints, etc. I’m just venting about the people (who I’ve talked to irl) who hype space so hard they disregard how important it is to look back towards our mother planet before we set our dreams on the next. IE “So what if Earth has problems, we’ll just colonize Mars” without acknowledging the inherent and extreme environmental challenges that exist in that unknown that don’t exist on our shockingly perfect little flying rock we have here.

It’s almost like we should stop destroying this perfect insanely unique and suitable planet we live on until we’ve reached a level of bioengineering that allows us to artificially adapt to the significant environmental challenges of interplanetary travel…
