  • They may like to see the Iranian leadership weakened, but all of them are more concerned about a scenario of chaos and uncertainty and the possibility of more radical elements coming to power there,” Anna Jacobs Khalaf, a Gulf analyst and non-resident fellow at the Arab Gulf States Institute, told Al Jazeera last month.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m extremely opposed to a war in Iran for no fucking reason, in large part because I give a shit about the well being of the Iranian people and want to see them make their own way out of authoritarian theocracy without western intervention. But I’m not exactly sure what more radical group could possibly come to power there than the Ayatollah. Is ISIS-K a serious enough political entity that it could end up wielding any actual power in the aftermath? Cause I don’t see anyone else who could be much more radical (while maintaining something resembling a state) than what they’ve already got.

  • Could maybe possibly plausibly have something to do with the fact they’re in a desperate war for survival against an imperialist domineer where they’ve been deeply dependent on an Israeli ally for military, intelligence, and financial support? One that would leave them in no place to be criticizing the ones holding that lifeline?

Oh sorry, nevermind, I forgot you’re living in a fantasy realm where the war ended in three days and all those Jewish Nazis like Zelenskyy were purged. Or something.

  • Yeah, the whole army of me doesn’t show up, and them I’m fired (or take a reason sick day for no reason when I have a very, very limited number of those and get fired next time I’m sick).

Nobody else is willing to join this because some internet rando promised them it would work, and a solid chunk of the population would be unwilling to join even if there was no consequences because they generally back the regime and its warmongering. In the theoretical best case it’s the prisoners’ dilemma on a societal scale which is basically impossible to win without a larger national union syndicate to coordinate.

Unionize now, then we can actually make a general strike happen.
