That’s cool. These do seem to be a bit cheaper than comparably configured Windows laptops. I already bought a Windows 11 Lenovo (and put Linux Mint on it), but in the future I will opt for pre-loaded Linux computers. Glad to see it catching on. I don’t think I’ll be shipping my computer to a Lenovo service center to get a refund on the Windows license, but I may write a nasty email.

15·7 days agoIt’s not enough that the consequences of having 34 felony convictions are exactly nothing. What a piece of work that guy is.
I heard about a company that sold laptops with Linux installed instead of Windows and I checked it out, expecting it to be a couple hundred dollars cheaper for a comparable machine, on account of not having to pay Microsoft a license fee. But actually if anything they were more expensive, so I was disappointed.

But I take your point about a vegetarian diet being more sustainable. I’m slowly moving in that direction.

Technology@lemmy.world•Why your Amazon order confirmation emails have become so unhelpfulEnglish
3·16 days agoFair enough and I’m sorry if I sounded judgy. I I know it doesn’t apply to everyone, but I think a major reason for Amazon’s success is that they’ve made acquiring things too convenient. A lot of people (I know I did) fall into the trap of over-consumption. I’ve come to conclude that spending my money ought to come with a little friction.
