Also, our Navy doesn’t need to police the planet, seven carrier groups? One carrier alone is ridiculously expensive.
We can increase taxes on the super wealthy AND make military cuts AND other measures besides, none of which are important for the USAs defense, none of which benefit citizens.
Worst case scenario? There’s a financial collapse for a few years, maybe a decade; and it will happen sooner rather than later. If things are as you suggest (debt so high that increased taxes can’t help) the collapse is inevitable anyway, yeah?

Our political system depends on the “heel” taking a back seat every few years, now the “face” comes in for damage control with much incompetence; due to their ineptness, the “heel” will be able to convince just enough of the next generation to vote for them and start the process anew.
This has worked for longer than any of us have been alive.
On Youtube, there are a multitude of new “hosts” like C.S. Lewis (a dead author), sitting at a desk and spewing almost legible gibberish (in an AI voice resembling their own) vaguely referring to their favorite topic. Also psychologists, historians, and more. I’ve started to look more and more for videos over three years old if I want a decent history program.
Some are hours long. More and more, every day.
