time to start boiling everything again.

2·1 month agoI think that if you think you are better than other people you are then obligated to provide care and support for those you view as lessers. Then the very greatest that a person could be, and achieve, would be to care for and nurture the most people.

4·2 months agoI think having people present is a crutch for bad managers too. Instead of checking in, setting goals, and reviewing goals reached they can just roll around the compound and see if everyone is fiddling with their doodads and looking stressed out.

1·2 months agoHave the death penalty, but only if the lead prosecutor goes down with them and can only ever be involved in one at a time (ie they can do another if the one is appealed and stopped). Prosecutor doesn’t have to be in jail while they wait, but their lives end simultaneously and under identical conditions.

And yes, I realise this idea has a number of technological requirements that may not exist yet, or cannot reliably exist ever, and requires the trusting of some authority in a world where noone of that esteem seem to be able to exist.

World News@lemmy.world•Alberta pushes for independence: Separatists hope to hold a referendum in October to secede from CanadaEnglish
4·3 months agoWhat I think will happen, is that the wording of the referendum question will be a barely readable word salad designed specifically to confuse. Votes will break into three groups: 1) coached to vote for seperatism 2) large random group with poor, or even moderately good, reading comprehension and 3) Can read good and want to stay. I believe that was done with the previous daylight savings referendum question.

3·4 months agoI thought globally we could institute Highlander rules for billionaires. Legal to kill each other and the winner gets to keep all the money of the losers. There can be only one! And then, you know, there will only be one of them and that might just sort itself out.
How it feels to me is that the goal is for the world to become so intrusive/demanding/stressful that the only way to exist in it sanely would be to build an interactive buffer between the person and the greater world, and they want to sell these brown nosing AI agents as that buffer.
I detest the ethics, economic, and environmental costs of these platforms, but the part of me that is casting around wildly for some sort of life preserver wonders if somehow these horrible contraptions of inevitable doom might just provide some short term relief.
