At his speech in Davos the fuckwit known as Elon Musk was talking about how in the future everybody will have or wants to have their own personal AI robot that is taking care of their elderly or children for them. Or taking care of their pets. Like, the clankers are already overtaking the wrong tasks. Now just take human interaction out of everything please so I can finally fulfill my dream of being fulltime obedient work cattle. /s just in case

Looks good, I fiddled around with it for a bit. For now, I prefer FluffyChat. I‘m actually wondering how little it is mentioned in the recent pop up of discord alternatives / matrix clients given how polished and easy to use it is.

Skill issue. Should’ve chosen EU as spawn.

Last I checked the pings and curls from inside the container worked. I think I even checked that I was coming out of the mullvad vpn and all seemed fine, but qBittorrent was telling me it couldn’t reach any trackers.
it could be due to the trackers blocking VPN users.
Hmm I’ve never even thought about it like that but sounds plausible, I’ll look into that more later, thank you.

Thank you for putting into perspective for me. That actually helped not stressing out about it so much. My life doesn’t depend on these services working, I’m not a heavy user anyways. It just itched me that I’ve felt like I’m 95% there to the perfect setup but just couldn’t get there.

That’s what I figured as well. I probably wouldn’t be a super seeder (sorry) but to my understanding it should work without port forwarding somehow.

From what I’ve read mullvad stopped openVPN support, so that might be the issue there

That deal that totally had nothing to do with Microsoft relocating their headquarters closer to Munich

Jolla from Finland has quite the successful preorder phase right now for their next true Linux phone though. I have a preorder voucher myself and am quite intrigued in how it will turn out and if it’ll actually proof usable in daily life (considering banking or healthcare apps its probably gonna get tricky but I’ll see)

That is indeed a very heavy side effect and could potentially be a threat to human life on this planet.

Great post and great discussion here, thank you all for all this food for thought and new services to explore.
I started self hosting 4 weeks ago on a small Dell Wyse with a 2 TB external SSD plugged in. I’ve been using YunoHost as the backbone of everything and so far it’s been a blast.
It now has Immich, Calibre-Web, Jellyfin, Navidrome and more running on it. Soon I’ll hopefully replace my iPhone with something more privacy focused.
I‘ll see how well it‘ll work when I’ll eventually want to install something that isn’t directly supported as a „native“ yunohost app.

That PR was quite the ride, thank you for that. Also, I feel for the maintainer guy :(

It’s time to hit the button again
Looking at the company I work for: moving from a selfhosted GitLab instance to go all in on GitHub
:(

Money being considered to be a “fact of life“ is the sad part here.

OP has a point though:
Seriously though. This should really help the elderly or those with a physical limitation.
This is not the steampunk world I wished for man.
