NextDNS is a good option for your use case. It allows you to block entire categories of websites and even has an option to setup a schedule on when you are allowed to access them. It also has blocklists you can pick from and the ability to blacklist and whitelist individual domains. And the free plan is very generous. You can just try it and see how it works for you.

I use Mullvad too and I have the exact same experience with having to keep switching servers until I am able to access the website. For some reason though RedReader does not appear to be affected by this. I guess they must be treating it differently since it is using the API. RedReader was one of the very few third-party clients that was spared during the APIcalypse.

Since Reddit started preparing to file for the IPO it has really gone to shit. That is around the point I just gave up and went read-only. If you just want to find information RedReader is amazing. At least for the time being it is the absolute best way to browse Reddit privately. Even when the Reddit website blocks the IP of the VPN server I am using, RedReader is not affected for some reason.

I saw a few listings on XMRBazaar. Just search for “reddit” and you will find several. XMRBazaar itself is trustworthy but I cannot vouch for any of the sellers. Think of it kind of like Craigslist for Monero.

I tried many times during the past year. SimpleLogin aliases with and without a custom domain, Mullvad and ProtonVPN, etc. No matter what I did I always ended up being shadow banned the moment I posted pretty much any comment. In the end I decided it just doesn’t worth my time.
If you really have to, the only way that I think it would work reliably is buying an aged account that already has a bit of karma behind it for some XMR. Plenty people are selling them, but I am not gonna pay $30 for the privilege of using fucking Reddit.
Don’t forget The Hated One.

Ruminating…

If you are actively blocking Cloudflare and you are still able to use the web services you rely on then I am genuinely jealous of you.

I would go for a simple humidity sensor. You just need to do a bit of data collection first to get a baseline of “what taking a shower usually looks like” and then based on that create the automation.
The only problem with that is that depending on how accurate you want it to be, you may have to wait a while to take a few measurements until it triggers the automation.
For something like mood lights I would just use a ZigBee switch if I’m being honest though.

“I don’t need to, I have it stored all in my head.”
Famous last words.

The answer is to get a used Pixel. With a bit of looking around you may be able to find some pretty good deals. The Pixel 8a is the sweetspot is my opinion. OEM minimum support until May 2031 and old enough to find at a very good price. But not that old for its battery to very likely be busted.
Same here, Debian since Squeeze. A couple of years ago I just decided to go a step further and go with Kicksecure. Which is basically just hardened Debian.

If you don’t want to use a VPN like Tailscale (or ZeroTier) then this is exactly what the Home Assistant Cloud is for. And it even has an 1-month trial.

It’s getting harder and harder to defend those idiots. Come on Mozilla, WTF is that?

If you want privacy you should be using Monero. If you use Monero you can use the official wallet together with Trezor. In fact, if I am not mistaken you have to, because from what I recall the Trezor Suite has no support for Monero.

Exactly, it takes several seconds, and sometimes I close the app on my phone without realising it hasn’t synced yet and then when I go to my desktop it’s not there.
Because of this I find myself opting for the “Note to Self” feature on Signal more and more when I am on my phone. It is super basic, but when I put something there it appears instantly on all my other devices.

I use Joplin too for years, syncing however always felt quite slugish. And that besides the fact it does so over the network because I am using my self-hosted Nextcloud server as the syncing method. How has been your experience?
Tailscale also has Funnel.
