politics @lemmy.world•Graham Platner Could Be the Bellwether of a New US Populism
113·25 days agoI went back and listened to Fetterman during his election, and I’ve listened to Platner in recent interviews, there is a major difference in the general thought of how politics works and how it should work.
I suppose it’s possible that this is another wolf in sheeps clothes, but it sure doesnt look like it to me. Not to mention taken at face value, he’s leaps and bounds ahead of anyone else in the race.

politics @lemmy.world•AOC surges to lead in 2028 primary for first time
21·1 month agoNo way, she was playing to win. They were hoping some republicans on the fringe would switch if she buddied up with some of the decent republicans that Trump hated, the problem was too many people were fucked so badly by the current system they just wanted to burn everything down with the hope that whatever replaced it would be better.
We all see how that went. They were hoodwinked by the same grifter and they all fell for it again.

141·2 months agoListen guy, maybe you haven’t noticed, but we have some serious fuckery we are trying to deal with here. While I agree that metric is a more logical system. We’re trying to get a grip while everything around us is crumbling. Switching to metric is in like volume 17 of our todo list right now, sandwiched between end daylight savings time and making the my pillow guy eat a sock.

Something with a public/private encryption system to authenticate users without the content needing to be federated.

3·4 months agoTaco Bell does that now. Every single drive thru I’ve gone to have a intro message
“Welcome to Taco Bell are you checking in with your app or reward points??”
And each version is clearly recorded locally because they always sound like a manager or something.
I almost want to drive to a bunch and record them for a dystopian compilation.
And I usually say “I have an order for <name>” and I get silence or a long pause and someone saying hold on.
It’s pointless. Especially when I can see the window operator handing food to a car ahead of me, I know they’re not ready but I’ve already been autoprompted by the recording.
